Former President Jacob Zuma has added a Plan B to his appeal to the SCA to remain out of prison – if his appeal is dismissed, the matter should be referred back to the Commissioner of Correctional Services to reconsider medical parole within a month.

Volksblad reports that the notice of appeal filed yesterday includes an additional safety net that would ensure his continued freedom if he loses.

Zuma specifically seeks an order that he would remain at home while the commissioner is afforded a month to reconsider the medical parole.

Gauteng High Court Judge Elias Matojane granted Zuma leave to appeal to the SCA in December.

Zuma is maintaining the argument advanced in the application for leave to appeal is Plan A.

These include the issues of the commissioner’s overruling of the recommendation of a medical panel and whether the time Zuma already spent on medical parole should be deducted from his sentence.
