More Gupta-related firms charged
Three more Gupta-related companies were added to the charge sheet in a fraud case involving R107.5m of funds earmarked for mine rehabilitations.
According to a Beeld report, Tegeta Exploration and Resources – represented by former director Ronica Ragavan – the Optimum Coal mine, and the Koornforntein mine were added as accused in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
The other accused include Joel Raphela, former deputy DG in the Department of Mineral Resources.
They are accused of fraud, falsification, and uttering of falsified documents, perjury, and money laundering.
NPA spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka says Raphela is charged with illegally authorising the release of rehabilitation trust funds.
