At a cost of nearly R24 000 per head, VIPs were able to feast on the Presidential jet, Inkwazi, during their flight from London back to SA last year after the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The total catering cost for the flight amounted to R569 000, according to documents seen by Rapport.

City Press reports that due to the huge expenditure on Inkwazi’s flights, the SA Air Force’s catering budget now has only R45 000 left for the rest of the financial year.

Vincent Magwenya, spokesperson for President Cyril Ramaphosa, denied that the Presidency had any control over the food and drinks served on board Inkwazi, insisting that this was handled by the air force’s VIP squadron and kitchen.
