As IT experts collate information relating to the MKP’s claims of vote-rigging during the May general elections, hackers have been uploading animated pornographic images and videos onto the party's Facebook.

News24 report that party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said it has been in contact with the Meta – Facebook's parent company – support team ‘and are working hard to regain control of the account’.

He said cybersecurity remains a serious threat’ to all businesses, political parties and global citizens’.

‘We apologise to anyone who may have been offended by what was shared on our page by the hackers. We will continue to fight to change the plight of our people regardless of whichever threats may come our way,’ Ndhlela added.

After weeks of an unrelenting campaign to try to discredit the IEC, the MKP dropped its court application in which it alleged that widespread voter fraud had occurred during the elections.

It indicated the withdrawal in a notice filed with the Electoral Court and sent to the IEC.

However, its lawyer said in the letter to the IEC's legal team that ‘experts’ are still collating evidence of vote-rigging.
