Leishen Pillay

Leishen Pillay is a corporate commercial lawyer who focuses on technology, media, telecommunications law, data privacy and protection, and railway projects. An in-depth understanding of these practice areas makes him the obvious choice to provide training on practical regulatory implementations, including the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, the National Credit Act and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI). He has acted for various national and international clients in both the public and private sector. Assisting Postbank in respect of the outsourcing of its networking and disaster recovery infrastructure and its compliance with the national regulator’s requirements. Advising the City of Johannesburg in respect of its multibillion rand broadband fibre project. Advising Telkom in respect of regulatory, commercial and licencing matters. Advising an international rolling stock manufacturer in respect of a multibillion rand railway project in South Africa. Acting on behalf of the National Credit Regulator to audit a registered credit provider's compliance with the data protection requirements ito the National Credit Act. Advising the South African Broadcasting Corporation in respect of its acquisition of mobile media transmission units for the 2010 World Cup. Advising an international broadcaster on its possible expansion into Africa.
