A woman’s tryst with her married lover turned into a nightmare when a night of passion was interrupted and she was not only chased down the street naked and assaulted by the man’s wife and sister, but footage of her ordeal captured on video was later published on the front page of a newspaper. The Mercury reports Rose Mashiane subsequently instituted a R1m damages claim in the Gauteng High Court (Pretoria) against Thabisile Tibane and Lindiwe Masemola.

The report says Masemola – the enraged wife – mostly took pictures of the naked Mashiane, while her sister, Tibane, attacked the woman with a sjambok and gave her a good hiding. Judge Cynthia Pretorius ordered Tibane to pay Mashiane R150 000 in damages, while Masemola was ordered to pay her husband’s mistress R15 000. The judge found that while Masemola humiliated Mashiane, her sister was the main instigator and the one who relentlessly assaulted her.
