Judgment was reserved in the Western Cape High Court yesterday on Western Province (Pty) Ltd's application for liquidation. The delay was a partial success for Aerios who has been in a legal battle with the commercial arm of the Western Province Rugby Union. The provisional state of liquidation, however, is extended, notes a Sport24 report. Aerios, through Advocate Chris Eloff, had claimed that WP’s sole intended desire through the liquidation was to get rid of Aerios as one of its creditors.

Aerios, who owns the commercial rights at Newlands, has a reported claim of R72m outstanding from WP (Pty) Ltd. Aerios is concerned that liquidation would leave them sidelined from future commercial dealings (their contract with WP is set to run until 2023). Aerios pointed to a court order in August that had instructed WP to include Aerios in all commercial negotiations, and they said that has not happened since.
