The family of Reshall Jimmy, who died when his Ford Kuga burst into flames, will be pursuing a class action lawsuit against the vehicle manufacturer, says a Wheels24 report. The family's lawyer, Rod Montano, announced the expected lawsuit during a briefing at the National Press Club yesterday following Ford’s announcement on Monday that it was recalling the vehicles, several of which have burst into flames without warning.

Ford has come up with excuses to protect their brand instead of giving the family closure, says a relative of Reshall Jimmy who died when his Ford Kuga caught fire in December 2015.

Thirty-one formal claims relating to Ford Kuga fires have been handed to the National Consumer Commission (NCC), Montano said. According to a News24 report, Montano said they had handed over the claims on Monday morning. Complaints from other victims were still being collected. Jimmy’s sister Renisha had opened a Facebook page for victims of Ford Kuga fires and Montana had used that to get in contact with them. ‘Contact has been made with them and I have been instructed to act on their behalf in bringing a class action against Ford,’ Montana said.
