Another Enviroserv official criminally charged
Coastal operations manager Clive Kidd is the latest Enviroserv official to be criminally charged alongside the company on several allegations of contravening environmental legislation at the Shongweni landfill site, according to a Sunday Tribune report. It notes that in April, the NPA charged waste management giant Enviroserv and its chief executive, Dean Thompson.
However, senior state advocate Yuri Gangai told the Durban Magistrate’s Court the charge sheet had not been finalised because of new evidence which could see more charges and accused persons being added. The report notes that over the weekend Enviroserv spokesperson Thabiso Taaka confirmed the additional charges. The matter will be back in court on 17 August.
