CemAir bid to overturn grounding notice fails
CemAir's urgent application to overturn the Aviation Authority's latest suspension and grounding notice has been dismissed with costs in the Gauteng High Court (Johannesburg), the regulator said yesterday, according to a Fin24 report.
Cemair had been suspended late in 2018, and again early in January 2019 while the authority conducted a full audit of the airline.
In a statement, the regulator noted: ‘CemAir’s Part 121 and 135 Air Operator Certificates remain suspended until such time that the airline has adequately addressed the safety concerns or findings uncovered by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) during a recent renewal audit.’
Without the necessary certificates, SACAA said, CemAir cannot operate as an airline.
