Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela described the attachment by a sheriff of five cars and movable assets at her house as ‘political games’, Volksblad reports.

Sheriff Phillip Maseko attached the assets at the house of the Premier and her husband, ANC MP Louis Ntombela, in Frankfort on Tuesday, in execution of a court order.

Ntombela claimed that she does not even own five cars, but Maseko says he merely executed a court order.

Louis Ntombela said the matter pertains to a house he bought in Bloemfontein before the seller was sequestrated.

‘The liquidators wanted to sell the house for which I had already paid alongside his other assets.’

Louis Ntombela approached the courts to interdict the sale and says he was successful, but admitted he still owed R121 000 for the house.

He said he paid 50% of the debt on Monday and the rest on Tuesday. But Maseko says the court order which he executed shows the Premier and her husband owe R200 000, which includes legal fees.

The sheriff added that he enlisted the assistance of the police to attach the assets.
