Analyst writes off Malema's ConCourt blast
EFF leader Julius Malema this week accused Constitutional Court judges of incompetence, but an expert said the claim had no substance as it was part of the EFF’s plan to discredit the judiciary.
A report in The Citizen notes that the EFF also criticised the judges for allegedly colluding with the ANC against the opposition in elections.
Analyst, Dr Ralph Mathekga, said the EFF statement had no substance.
‘I don’t think the Constitutional Court can be faulted. I think the EFF is just positioned to raise doubt about the judiciary. This seems to be a political project which had been coming for while from the EFF,’ he said.
Malema said the Constitutional Court’s failure to deliver judgment on the postponement of the 27 October local government elections and the rescission on the 15 months’ sentence imposed on Jacob Zuma were examples of judicial incompetency.
Political analyst Sanusha Naidu said the optics surrounding this particular matter reinforced the perceptions of collusion as made by EFF.
