Flamboyant pop music sensation and community activist Nomsa Mazwai is embroiled in a legal tug of war with the Jabulani Manor Body Corporate in Soweto.

This after the body corporate allegedly blocked her from buying electricity on her prepaid meter, citing that she had fallen into arrears in her levy payments, reports City Press.

Mazwai escalated the dispute to the Gauteng High Court (Johannesburg) and filed an urgent court application on 12 April after efforts to reach an amicable solution failed.

She claimed that the body corporate went overboard and illegally barred her from accessing electricity in her apartment.

However, the court ruled that the matter was not urgent and therefore would be placed on the normal roll.

The papers also list levy collectors identified as Angor Property Specialist as the second respondents in the matter.

Mazwai said in her court papers that the situation is affecting her ability to earn an income and provide for her children, and her levies were not in arrears.

She further cited that the body corporate ignored letters of demand from her lawyer.
