Stellenbosch University student expelled
The Stellenbosch University student who was filmed urinating on a fellow student’s belongings, has been expelled. Theuns du Toit was found guilty of violating several clauses of the disciplinary code.
A report on News24 site notes that these include acting in a manner that is racist or unfairly discriminatory.
University spokesperson Martin Viljoen said there was no alternative but to expel Du Toit.
He has five days to file a notice of appeal.
Babalo Ndwayana, the victim in the incident, did not attend the disciplinary proceedings.
The Cape Argus reports that Ndwayana's father, Mkuseli Kaduka, said he welcomed the news.
‘That’s what we’ve been calling for from the onset and we’re still going to take the police case further … this is just the beginning,’ he said.

Du Toit’s attorney, William Fullard, told Die Burger they are disappointed with the ruling and he has already obtained instructions to appeal.
The ruling of the disciplinary committee reads that Du Toit acted in a racist way ‘through the use of a variation of the words, “it’s a white boy thing”’.
However, Du Toit disputed that he used those words.
The disciplinary committee said in the ruling the majority of members of the committee did not believe Du Toit’s version of what he said.
