Entrepreneurs clash over affluent estate
Two entrepreneurs are embroiled in a messy dispute involving a multimillion-rand property in the affluent Leloko Lifestyle Estate in Hartbeespoort in North West, reports City Press.
The property owner, entrepreneur Thapelo Maimela – who is based in Kempton Park on the East Rand –took businessperson Barnabas Lekganyane to the Gauteng High Court (Johannesburg) for breach of the purchase agreement they signed in November 2021 for his R2.4m property.
The court application noted that ‘the applicant (Maimela) acceded to the request and allowed occupation, subject to the following verbal condition that the purchaser would pay occupational rent of R20 000 per month, payable on the date or before the first day of each month in advance'.
But Lekganyane told City Press that he refused to move out of the house because Maimela had not refunded him the R300 000 deposit he had paid when he moved in.
‘I have no problem moving out of the house, but I have been advised not to until he refunds me. The matter of my refund is already with my lawyers,’ Lekganyane said.
