Former CEO's wife seeks hefty maintenance
A former prominent property fund CEO could be compelled to pay spousal maintenance of R350 000 a month following a split with his wife after more than a decade of marriage, reports City Press.
In a decree of divorce application lodged by the wife, she is adamant that their marriage has broken down beyond reconciliation.
The proceedings, which were filed at the Gauteng High Court (Johannesburg) last week, show that the wife’s plea for spousal maintenance is informed by the well-known exec having been the sole provider of their household.
This is why she asks that he ‘shall be liable for a monthly maintenance amounting to R350 000 000 per month...’
She also wants her soon-to-be ex-husband to foot the bill for her luxury Mercedes-Benz until the car is fully paid.
She further wants him to also pay for her medical expenses and the costs of the current court application for the decree of divorce.
The husband shot to prominence after being embroiled in numerous squabbles with his former property fund employers upon his resignation in 2020.
He was also the subject of Johannesburg-based private equity firm Vantage Capital Fund Management's request to the Gauteng High Court (Johannesburg) to declare him among delinquent directors in a case that lifted the lid on some of the alleged governance breaches at his former employers during his tenure.
He was sued, along with a host of other directors, for a combined R371m over a property deal that turned sour.
