Pastor’s Constantia mansion under the hammer
Standard Bank has targeted pastor and politician Jerome Swartz’s upmarket Cape Town home.
The R10m property goes under the hammer this week after the liquidation of his companies and the sequestration of his and his wife’s joint estate.
Several other properties are also due to be sold after a ruling last year by the SCA, the latest legal blow in a long-running battle with the bank.
The Sunday Times reports that Swartz had sought to overturn an earlier provisional liquidation of two of his companies on the grounds that one of them had been placed in business rescue.
However, the SCA decision made both the liquidations and the sequestration order final.
Swartz and his wife, Lucille, lead the Cape Town-based Jesus Celebration International (JCI) Church, which claims to have 40 satellite branches in the Western Cape.
Swartz is also founder and leader of the African Restoration Alliance (ARA) political party.
Court documents list the two liquidated companies as Pygon Trading and JCICC Network.
The companies held various commercial accounts with Standard Bank.
