The mother accused of pimping out her two young daughters and selling one to an attorney was allegedly forced to smuggle suspected drugs into prison by Gauteng crime prevention wardens working as orderlies at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

The mother is on trial alongside Carel Schoeman in the Gauteng High Court, sitting in Palm Ridge.

News24 reports that during her appearance on Wednesday, the mother told her attorney, Harold Davids, that while she was in the holding cells, two wardens had approached her.

She was allegedly given R200 and two smallish, brown, sellotaped bags, and told to smuggle them into prison upon her return from court.

The mother is an awaiting trial prisoner at the Johannesburg Correctional Centre.

Police have confirmed that the warden was arrested and has since appeared in court on charges of defeating the ends of justice.

Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the warden allegedly tried to give a prisoner money and some drugs.

Davids also requested that the mother be kept in a single cell in prison, fearing reprisal after alerting authorities about what took place.

The 38-year-old mother is on trial after pleading not guilty to 72 counts, including nine of sexual exploitation of children, nine of rape, human trafficking, kidnapping, child abuse, and creating child pornography.

She is accused of forcing her then-11 and 13-year-old daughters into prostitution.
