A Gauteng woman says she lost R5.8m after investing in Tammy Taylor franchise and shareholding opportunities, which she claims were fraudulently marketed by Peet and Mel Viljoen.

Her legal team has formally requested an urgent update from the NDPP, citing months of delays despite persistent follow-ups.

Hantie Oosthuyzen, one of the complainants, said she was persuaded to invest in franchise opportunities in Bedfordview and Benoni, with the East Rand described as a lucrative market.

News24 reports that the Hawks have confirmed that investigations into four criminal dockets are complete and are awaiting a decision from the NDPP.

Peet Viljoen is currently incarcerated and facing charges related to the fraudulent sale of at least 46 properties belonging to the Johannesburg Property Company in 2010, resulting in losses exceeding R27.6m.

He is expected in court on 23 July for the continuation of his bail application.
