The Law Desk of Fawzia Khan and Associates, Attorneys, Conveyancers, and Notaries was established by its founder and CEO, Fawzia Khan in December 1990.  Being a female black legal practice, Fawzia has over the years not only succeeded in breaking barriers in a strongly dominated male environment, but she is also widely respected amongst her peers. With close to 30 years legal experience, Fawzia handles a diverse civil litigation caseload. Fawzia is a skilled communicator and is a regular guest speaker on a number of community radio stations. She has also featured as a guest speaker on the national radio station, SAfm. She writes articles of legal interest for a number of local magazines and newspapers. She is able to synthesize and deliver complex information to diverse audiences. In January 2015, the law practice was profiled on television on the SABC 3 channel lifestyle show, An-Nur, The Light. 

Fawzia Khan and Associates offer a range of bespoke legal services and we concentrate on civil litigation, including Divorce and Family Law, Commercial, Business & Contract Law, Property Law, and Mediation. Part of the success of the practice is that we believe that easy accessibility to our clients is crucial. We are merely a phone call away, when a situation calls for urgent our professional input or advice. Even though we are based in Durban, our law firm is not restricted to a specific geographic location. This is due largely to the fact that we are able to operate in a completely paperless environment if and when necessary. We offer a fully digitalized legal practice and are able to electronically consult with our clients across a number of different electronic mediums including Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, What"s App video calls, emails, cellular phone calls or whatever medium may be available and convenient at the time. Off-course should our clients also wish to consult with us face to face at our office, that is always available.

The practice services not only individuals but also small to medium-sized businesses and entities.

The practice’s field of services also extends a range of notarial services, including registering Ante-Nuptial Contracts. We are also able to notarise documents to be used in a foreign country. In 2011, Fawzia trained and became an accredited Mediator, where she is able to act as a neutral third party in any dispute. Fawzia is well placed to mediate in any dispute whether it relates to commercial, divorce, construction, labour. Since February 2020, the Uniform Rules of Court now makes it compulsory for all litigants to consider mediation before the matter is before the court, or they risk having a costs order made against them. Fawzia will happily act as Mediator for such litigants.

Fawzia is a member of the Institute of Risk Management South Africa.
