The firm was established in 1986 and was known as Laing Frank & Mac Donald. Charles Frank and Russel Macdonald retired as partners in 1985 and 1986 respectively. Initially, the entity because of its racial backround served clients mainly from the so-called "Coloured" Community. The firm has however expanded rapidly in the last 28 years to serve all sectors of South African community and is now known as Laing And Associates . The firm has grown to represent corporates and prominent South Africans in all fields of legal disputes. Laing & Associates has grown to be one of the more diverse law firms to emerge from the disadvantaged sections of South African Society.
From its inception, the firm made a conscious effort to escape the fate of most black law practices doomed to survive in the criminal courts of our country. A conscientious decision was made at an early stage of its development to make the conveyancing and civil litigation department the main focus of the practice — a decision that has proved to be most prudent. Over the years the implementation of this policy has resulted in the firm being able to offer its clients a range of core legal services.
Laing & Associates offers services to individuals and corporates. We offer all our clients high quality legal represenation. Over the years our client base included services to the following: • Transnet • Portnet • Sasol • Telkom • Engen • Airports Company South Africa • Mandlethu Group • President Jacob Zuma • Kwa Zulu Natal Law Society
to name a few.
