Chantal Murdock focuses on commercial litigation and mining regulatory compliance. As an admitted notary and conveyancer she deals with the notarial execution of mining and prospecting rights, renewals of prospecting rights, and the registration of property transfers. Recently Chantal assisted a large mining house with the administration of complex mineral and property rights issues. This included interacting with the Department of Mineral Resources, facilitating the registration of servitudes and property transfers, and general administrative assistance in the regulatory maintenance of rights granted under the MPRDA. Representative experience: Part of the team that assisted Lucara Diamonds Plc in the recovery of legal costs resulting from a judgment awarded in its favour. Assisted a large mining house with the compilation of an electronic data base. Part of the team that assisted Leeuw Mining in obtaining an urgent interdict against striking miners. Providing ongoing administrative support to a large mining house in respect of its mineral and property rights. Part of the team that reviewed a mining client’s operations, which included drafting risk assessments for more than 30 mining and prospecting rights.
