After commencing his articles of clerkship in 1990, a period of employment in the commercial sector as a legal adviser ensued, culminating in an appointment as Assistant General Counsel: Africa for a multi-national company with its head office in New York. During the above period, various articles were written by Denis, most notably an article on the Duties of Trustees, which was published in Cover (the Insurance Industry magazine) in 2003. On invitation of the then minister of finance, Mr. Trevor Manuel, Denis participated in the focus group responsible for the re-drafting of retirement fund legislation. Denis has extensive experience in the drafting of contracts and delivers presentations to various enterprises on the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act and other legislation having an impact on the Commercial Sector. His areas of practice are Commercial Consulting, Commercial Litigation, Financial Services Law, Insurance Law, Employee Benefit/Group Risk Law and Property Law, and he has significant experience in the legal aspects of the downstream petroleum industry
