Gordon Hay

Gordon holds a B. Comm. degree from the University of Cape Town and a LLB degree from Unisa, as well as a Higher Diploma in Tax Law from WITS University. He was admitted as an attorney in 1973 after completing his articles at MacRobert Attorneys. He was appointed director in 1975 and elected managing director in 1995. He has served as a member of the executive committee of the Pretoria Attorneys’ Association, is a member of the disciplinary committee of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces, is chairman of the Pretoria Old Boys’ Club Association, and a former director of Project Literacy and serves on various other committees. Gordon specialises in general litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution and labour law, and his experience spans a wide spectrum of legal disciplines. In the corporate world he is highly respected for his problem-solving abilities and his expertise in the legal and management aspects of the industry. His pioneering work in aligning client needs with innovative ideas and different solutions to traditional approaches has forged MacRobert Attorneys into one of the most advanced and respected law firms in South Africa.
