Helena Martha Roodt

Helena obtained her LLB degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2005. During her final year, she was awarded the DELTA scholarship by Leiden University in The Netherlands, where she was an exchange student from October to December 2004. Helena worked as a Junior Lecturer at the University of the Free State in 2006. She completed her articles of clerkship at Engelsman, Magabane Inc in Kimberley in 2009, where she worked as a Professional Assistant until  September 2010. She is now an Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Helena worked as a Dispute Resolution Specialist at NEASA (National Employer’s Association of South Africa) in Bloemfontein from September 2010 to March 2017. Where she gained  extensive experience in chairing and representing at disciplinary hearings, drafting of employment contracts, wage negotiations, appearing at the CCMA and other Bargaining Councils. She was appointed as a Legal Officer at the CGE (Commission for Gender Equality) in Bloemfontein in April 2017. The CGE is a Chapter 9 Institution that was created in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, to strengthen our democracy and to eliminate gender oppression. Helena is a passionate and energetic person. She is an advocate for gender equality and firmly believes in gender transformation. Since 2005 she has dedicated her time and energy to training and developing future jurists.  She is a dedicated person who works well under pressure. She loves the challenge of solving complex legal problems and brings this to every client engagement.
