James was appointed as an Associate of the firm during February 2016, after completing his articles of clerkship at the firm. James has a BA Honours Degree (Political Studies and Philosophy) from Rhodes University and an LLB Degree from the University of Johannesburg. James also spent two years teaching English at a private English academy in South Korea. James is interested in various aspects of employment law including collective labour law, restraints of trade and intra-Union disputes. James has been involved in a number of high profile urgent applications in both the Labour Court and High Court relating to unprotected strikes, breaches of contracts of employment and disputes involving Union rivalries. James also has experience in employment law disputes and urgent applications in other African jurisdictions including in the Labour Court, Lesotho.
