Janice Galvad

Janice Galvad is a Partner in and the Chairperson of the Patent Department at Adams & Adams. She has been a Partner at the firm since 2004. She is a qualified patent attorney and holds a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law. She heads up the Patents Overseas Filing Section of Adams & Adams in Pretoria, South Africa, a position she has held since 2006.Janice heads up a team of 33 people who deal with incoming patent and design instructions from Adams & Adams foreign clients for filing in South Africa. Janice has a particular interest in best management practices to leverage efficiencies and pass on the benefits to clients of the Firm. She is the client relations partner for a number of high-profile, international clients, instructing patent and design filings in South Africa. Under her leadership, the section has embarked on electronic patent filings and electronic file management.Janice served as Companies and Intellectual Property Commission – South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law Patent Liaison Committee Chairlady from 2011-2014, serving on the Committee from 2008 -2010. She has established relationships with the Commission staff and the Registrar of Patents.
