Janine Theresa Reddi

Janine Reddi focuses on commercial and corporate law, with emphasis on competition law, company law, franchising, product distribution, and advertising and sponsorship. Janine has assisted in obtaining clearances of mergers in diverse industries, which include mining, IT, consumer goods, consulting services and steel production. She also regularly advises clients in regard to allegations of prohibited practices, including price fixing, market division and abuses of dominance. Her clients include multinational companies in the petrochemicals, automotive and security industries. She acts for numerous South African and international household names in the franchising industry and has prepared franchise and related agreements for franchises in diverse industrial and commercial sectors. In terms of corporate law, Janine has advised a number of multinationals on establishing a presence in South Africa and corporate governance issues and/or restructuring related thereto. One such project includes work carried out for one of the largest international charity organisations in the world, Islamic Relief Worldwide. When the Government Printing Works needed assistance on the administration of the tender process for the procurement of equipment and technology for the production of new identity cards for South Africa, Janine was called in to chair the committee tasked with adjudicating proposals from prospective bidders. Janine has also provided advice on regulatory matters to numerous clients in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, education and aviation. Representative experience: Acting for a multinational agricultural automotive company in an investigation by the Competition Commission into its dealer network. Advising a local university in an investigation by the Competition Commission into an exclusive supply arrangement. Advising an international beauty house in the prestige market on the implications of competition law relating to the proposed repositioning of their brand in SA. Supported Islamic Relief with its legal needs in South Africa relating to governance and re-structuring, and the funding of a children's hospital involving various jurisdictions. Advising the dealer network of a major petroleum supplier in regard to various issues arising from their standard dealer agreements. Advising a multinational distributor of generic medicines in relation to price regulations and drafting of agreements for distribution and international sale of such products. Carrying out product recall processes for various prominent multinationals in various sectors including the technology, automotive and security industries.
