Josephine Chetty

Josephine Chetty (née Potter) is a South African Attorney and Notary, specialising in Corporate and Commercial law. Her practice draws on over 13 years of multinational experience, gained both in practice as well as in-house. In-house experience includes serving as Global Compliance Officer, for IXM (formerly known as Louis Dreyfus Company Metals), a multinational metals trading group, as well as Senior Legal Counsel, Southern Africa, for Louis Dreyfus Company, a multinational agri-commodities trading and processing group, where she formed part of the local management team, serving on the Exco and Social and Ethics Committee. Prior to that, she worked in-house within the banking sector in South Africa. Josephine has managed and advised on various local and cross-border transactions, focussing on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, financings and restructurings, particularly regarding distressed assets. She has also served as counsel on business and supply chain matters generally, from trading, to payment flows, to processing, to warehousing, to execution, to logistics. In practice, Josephine specialised in Corporate / Commercial law, at Maitland Advisory in London, as well as Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr in Johannesburg.
