Laurie Hammond focuses on cross-border transactions in Africa, with emphasis on trade, commodities and export financing. She has a broad range of experience advising clients across the commodity value chain, acting for lenders and borrowers in a variety of sectors from mining, energy and natural resources to logistics and infrastructure. Laurie has worked in the London and South African markets and is both an admitted solicitor and an attorney. Representative experience: Advised a syndicate of lenders on a pan-African commodities financing, implementing security interests in DRC, Mauritius, Singapore, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Advised an international DFI on the funding of a steel manufacturer in Mozambique and Tanzania. Advised a global energy trader on its coal supply and financing arrangements in South Africa. Avised a Nigerian oil trader on an international financing structure and the provision of security in South Africa. Advised a syndicate of lenders on term loan facilities to development institutions in Africa for the financing of regional trade and infrastructure projects. Advised a South African bank on soft commodities financing across Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Advised a South African bank on its borrowing base facilities with a major aluminium processor. Advised global LPG major on the financing aspects relating to the development and operation of a new build coastal LPG import, storage and distribution facility.
