Paul Avenant

Paul Avenant  obtained his BA (Law) and LLB degrees from the University of Stellenbosch in 1980 and 1982 respectively, .  He completed his compulsory national service during 1983 and 1984 and served as a Military Law Advisor. ​After completion of his National Service he joined the Department of Justice where he was employed as a prosecutor until 1987 when he left the Johannesburg Regional Court as Control Prosecutor to take up Articles with the Firm Heyns & Partners Incorporated. Paul was admitted as an Attorney in 1989 and seven (7) months later was appointed a Director of Heyns & Partners Incorporated. Paul establish Avenant Attorneys during 1995. Paul has 24 years post qualification experience and have keen interest in the fields of Commercial Law, Property Law, Family Law, Law of Delict and Trust Law. He was involved with and acted for amnesty seekers during hearings of the  Truth and Reconciliation Commission in matters dealing with the destabilization of the Eastern Cape during the apartheid years.
