Theodorus Henry Doubell

Theo is a chemical and metallurgical engineer. He is also a qualified patent attorney and admitted to the High Court of South Africa. He is furthermore a member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces (SA), a fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL), a past board member and  President of the South African Licensing Executives Society (LES), a member of the International Federation of Patent Agents (FICPI) and a member of INTA.Theo has more than 25 years experience in technology and patent related matters and is recognized as an expert in these fields. He has extensive experience in the creation, procurement, protection, enforcement and commercialisation of intellectual property in both South Africa and internationally, including IP related research and development projects, patenting, litigation, due diligence investigations (projects), negotiations and transactions, mergers and acquisitions, listings and privatizations, taxation, valuation, planning and structuring, technology transfer and technology based, engineering and construction agreements. Theo has also been assisting numerous private and public entities, including state owned enterprises and tertiary institutions, such as the Department of Science and Technology (“DST”) the the South African Bureau of Standards (“SABS”), the Technology Innovation Agency (“TIA”) and National Intellectual Property Management Office (“NIPMO”), with the drafting, interpretation and implementation of the IPR Act and the TIA Act, and their regulations.  Theo represents various blue chip companies and governments in IP related matters.
