Wayne Frank Gray

Wayne Gray was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 1988. Wayne graduated from the University of Natal, Durban (now Kwazulu-Natal University) with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in English and Comparative African Government Studies.  After completing his articles of clerkship at Adams & Adams in Durban, where he also worked as an attorney, Wayne practised law with Krish Naidoo, Brereton and Co in Port Elizabeth. He established the firm Wayne Gray & Company in 1991.  He has extensive experience and expertise in the area of Labour and Employment Law and has represented, amongst others, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Makana Municipality, Ndlambe Municipality, Mandela Bay Development Agency, Saldanha Bay Municipality and SALGA, the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) for 30 years, the South African Clothing & Textile Workers’ Union (SACTWU), the South African Transport & Allied Workers’ Union (SATAWU), the Chemical Energy Paper Printing Wood & Allied Workers’ Union (CEPPWAWU), the Communications Workers’ Union (CWU), the Radisson Hotel, as well as prominent individuals. He has advised on forensic anti-corruption legal work, including civil proceedings and disciplinary enquiries arising out of fraud, money laundering and corruption, which is documented in the book “How to Steal a City” by Crispian Olver. He has also advised and represented local authorities on administrative justice, the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act and the Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act and on the appointment processes of senior managers and in judicial reviews.
