At Ehlers Attorneys we strive to provide a professional, reliable and affordable service to our clients. We are committed to assisting clients from all walks of life from across the country. Ehlers Attorneys was opened in June 2001 by Mr Giel Ehlers. As a previous commander of the Johannesburg Narcotics Bureau in the SA Police, Mr Ehlers had an excellent knowledge of Criminal Law and he proceeded to establish a firm with an excellent reputation in dealing with criminal matters.

In April 2002 we opened offices at our current location. Our office has since then provided a home base from which we serve clients countrywide.

In 2003 we began assisting clients with claims against the Road Accident Fund. Since then we have expanded our services to include Civil Litigation, Family Law and most recently Conveyancing.

In 2006 we expanded and renovated the office to accommodate our growing staff and clientele complement. SERVICES Criminal Law Our criminal law department, which consists of 3 professional representatives with 20 years experience in criminal law, are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

We are able to assist any client who is in need of personal assistance or advice relating to any type of criminal matter. A criminal prosecution against a client is without any doubt a very stressful time in the life of our client. Our legal team works hand in hand with our client, assisting him/her at all times in dealing with the stress and coping during this very anxious period.

Motor Vehicle Accident Claim - We have an efficient and capable section focusing on third party claims against the Road Accident Fund. We provide advice and assistance to people who have sustained injuries in motor vehicle accidents. Ehlers Attorneys will assist you to institute a claim against the Road Accident Fund for compensation. We work on a “no win – no fee” basis. You will only be liable for fees should your claim succeed. We will assist you with the costs of litigation. Ehlers Attorneys uphold the principles of honesty and integrity and we will gladly and openly discuss our fee agreements and fee structures with you.

Family Law Marriages - We assist people in negotiating and drawing up Antenuptial Contracts. We provide advice and assistance choosing the correct marital regime to suit your individual needs.

Divorces - We handle opposed and unopposed divorces. We aim to assist you during a difficult time with professional advice. We will negotiate a settlement on your behalf in accordance wih your instructions. We will also assist you with interim maintenance orders.

Custody and Access Issues - The best interest of the child is always paramount to us when dealing with any issues regarding minor children. The services of the Family Advocate is utilised in conjunction with private service providers, including child psychologists and social workers. In addition to custody and visitation rights, we also assist clients with international abduction matters and urgent applications in the High Court.

Wills and Testaments - It is necessary to update your Will on a regular basis. Changes in status, for example, marriage, divorce and the birth of a child, also necessitate the updating of a Will. Even the sale and purchase of property should be noted in your Will. A recent Will which clearly reflects your wishes assists your family during an extremely difficult period. We will assist you to draw up a valid Will. We also offer services regarding the administration of Estates.

Conveyancing - Ehlers Attorneys possesses the professional knowledge, experience, personnel and infrastructure which enables us to render a quality service relating to any aspect of conveyancing and property law, which include :- - drafting of sale of property agreements; - registration of transfer of residential, commercial and sectional title property; - registration and cancellation of mortgage bonds; - opening of sectional title registers; - property development; - establishment and registration of township developments; - registration of land consolidation and subdivision;

Civil Litigation - Ehlers Attorneys render services in Magistrate’s Court and High Court Civil litigation. Our areas of specialisation in this regard are debt collection, maintenance, matrimonial law, estates and labour law. Every effort is made to settle disputes between parties out of court. This we do without sacrificing our client’s interest. Our approach to litigation is that while we are robust, we should at the same time be reasonable and pragmatic.
